About Global Aviation Resource

What we're all about Global Aviation Resource (GAR) launched on 18th May 2009.

Since then GAR has remained true to its launch commitment of bringing visitors the very best news, reviews, features, comment and photography from those at the sharp end of aviation - every week. With more than 150 features published in its first year, GAR has captured the imagination of enthusiasts worldwide and caught the eye of the aviation industry having been shortlisted for a prestigious FlightGlobal 'Aviation Web Award' just seven months after inception.

GAR has covered, and will continue to cover, every facet of the genre from modern military to historic aviation, through to airshows and industry news. After just six months GAR had already published features on a huge range of subjects which included exclusive interviews and photos with the RAF solo display crews, in-depth reports on the Merlin Force ahead of their deployment to Afghanistan and air to air images of the Swift Aerobatic Team as they travelled to London City Airport's Fun Day. The team has been behind the scenes with airlines, exclusively revealed airshow display schemes, been granted unique access to airshow organisers and covered airlines and museums from as far afield as the United States, South Africa and Siberia.

November 2009 saw the launch of blogGAR - a brand new area of Global Aviation Resource which allows the writers and photographers to make content available which doesn't fit in to the normal feature schedule. It could be the images from a day's photography, the background story to a feature or just a comment or discussion piece on something newsworthy. blogGAR could be updated at anytime so keep your eyes on our Twitter (@gaviationr) and Facebook updates or just keep dropping by to see what's new.

This year GAR has already begun adding exclusive video content to features courtesy of a partnership with PlanesTV and, most recently, has invited two talented new people to join the team. GAR will continue bringing you the best aviation features on the net including a host of exclusive content and we hope you enjoy it.

Who we are GAR was conceived by highly respected photo-journalist Karl Drage and brings together a team of aviation photographers and writers which sees Karl taking his aviation work to a new level. The GAR team is well-connected across the aviation world and aims to produce features and reports of the highest quality and, equally importantly, on a regular and timely basis.

"Aviation is a fast-moving world and I wanted to create a site that can keep up with the industry but not compromise on quality when it comes to reporting news or publishing features. I think we've achieved that in our first year and the trick now is to continue delivering", says Karl.
