About Global Aviation Resource

Huw Hopkins - Staff Photographer & Writer As the youngest member of the GAR team Huw was born in 1992 and lives nearby the famous Salisbury Hall in Hertfordshire, visits to the de Havilland Heritage Centre there as a child triggered his interest in aviation. Huw began regularly attending airshows in 2003, frequenting nearby Duxford and Old Warden, where the roar of a Spitfire's Merlin engine or the sight of a graceful 1930s bi-plane helped spur his enthusiasm for historic aviation in particular.

As well as historic aviation, Huw has built up a broad appreciation for most aspects of aviation. Indeed he learnt the basics of aviation photography at airports such as Luton and Heathrow, shooting the airliners and business jets.
Now known for adding a slightly more creative edge to his photography from time to time, Huw is always looking to create something fresh and new that stands out from the crowd.

After first using a disposable camera at an airshow in 2003 he progressed steadily up to his first D-SLR in 2008. A Canon 50D with Canon 100-400mm L, 17-40mm L and various other lenses now fill Huw's camera bag.
