About: Shaun Schofield - Global Aviation Resource

Shaun Schofield - Staff Photographer & Writer Shaun's early interest in aviation was influenced heavily by his father, taking him to his first airshow at the tender of age of 3, the 1988 airshow at RAF Chivenor, sparking a life long love of all things aeronautical. His aviation interests are broad, but having grown up local to RNAS Yeovilton, it is naval aircraft that he is most fond of; the much missed Sea Harriers and their RAF contemporaries in particular. Although unable to pursue his dream career as a pilot, Shaun spent four years studying Aeronautical Engineering at Loughborough University, graduating with a Masters degree and leading on to a career in LED lighting, involving military applications.

A relative newcomer, Shaun first tried his hand at digital photography in 2009 with borrowed equipment, before taking the plunge and buying a camera of his own in 2010. The following year has seen him develop as a photographer, having a number of shots published in Scale Aircraft Modelling Magazine (a publication he writes articles for regularly) and culminating with an invite to join the team at GAR. Primarily, he spends most of his time photographing at airshows up and down the country, with the occasional visit to the local air bases thrown in when the opportunity presents itself.
He favours a more artistic style of photography, searching for the more unusual, creative angles and editing techniques - monochrome in particular - that can add a whole new dimension to aviation photography.

Shaun shoots primarily with a Canon 40D body, with Sigma 17-70mm and Canon 100-400mm lenses. A Canon 7D body and 24-70mm lens should be finding their way into his camera bag very soon.
