Captain Harry Wales, better known as Prince Harry, was a surprise participant at today’s RAF Cosford Airshow, as part of the Army Air Corps’ Attack Helicopter Display Team.
Prince Harry took his place in the front seat of the AAC’s Apache AH1 for both the aircraft’s solo flying display and its appearance in the MERT (Medical Emergency Response Team) Demo at a packed RAF Cosford Air Show.
GAR’s Gareth Stringer was with the team both before, during and after the Apache’s performance and brings you these images from an unprecedented day.
Gareth also interviewed display pilot SSgt Jamie Boakes and Captain Phil Wilson, the other qualified front seater for this season’s display, and we’ll bring you that exclusive feature in due course.
Update:
Here are two more images of Prince Harry (plus an additional image in the gallery below):
And PlanesTV’s excellent video of the Apache demo:

Huge thanks to Lt Col Tom de la Rue, Major Stewart Pearce, George Bacon and everyone else on the AHDT who made today possible.
It absolutely made my day to see Prince Harry! He is a diamond geezer!!!! 🙂
Great photos. We were right there when he landed and managed to get some reasonable photos too. That was a bit of a surprise because I hadn’t heard anything over the commentary about him being there 🙂
Once again, Captain Harry Wales shines. As did the sun.
Just so sorry I couldn’t go, but thanks for these excellent photographs.
Thrilled and pleased with your excellent and updated coverage of aircraft / pilots. I really enjoy it. Thanks!
