On one of the last visits of his Japanese tour, Paul Filmer takes in a mixture of civillian and military traffic at Komaki Airport.

This was our last airport visit together before flying home and we decided to go back to the joint military and civilian airport at Komaki.

Being a weekday this time around, there was a good possibility that we would be able to see some military movements.

The based Fuji Dream Embraer jets were in full force, giving plenty of opportunities for shooting different angles.

Instead of staying at ground level in the car park for the mall we ventured up to the viewing area right on the top floor, which was a lot further back but still within easy reach of our lenses.

This gave some great angles on almost every movement.

In the end we saw a couple of C-130 and KC-767 movements from the military side, and although the sun didn’t really play ball, managed some decent shots.

Komaki is certainly an airport that I’d visit again if the opportunity arose.
