The 495th Fighter Squadron, RAF Lakenheath, received their second batch of F-35A Lightning II fighters on 10th February 2022. Glenn Beasley was there for GAR.
Arriving a day later than planned, due to inclement weather, the three-ship arrived shortly before sunset, with the following serials joining the four aircraft already delivered in December – 19-5484, 19-5485 and 19-5486.
The aircraft were assisted on the final leg of their journey to the UK by a KC-135R from the 100th Air Refuelling Wing at nearly RAF Mildenhall.
This now brings the number of F-35A’s delivered to the 495th FS to seven.
The ‘Valkyries’ are expected to receive a total of 27 aircraft so further deliveries will undoubtedly take place soon.
