Airshows >> UK: Jubilee Schemed Tucano Breaks Cover

Some of you may have seen the images posted on Facebook of a Jubilee schemed aircraft in the paint bay at RAF Linton-on-Ouse. The images were revealed yesterday morning by the 2012 Tucano Display Team itself on its own FB group

GAR contacted the Team last night to ask if we could see larger versions of the images and display pilot, Flt Lt Jon Bond, kindly gave us permission to use them here.

These images, while not of the greatest quality, represent the first insight in to what we might be seeing a Tucano looking like at airshows this season.

The wing flashes have been painted white, a change to the usual yellow, and the aircraft has been adorned with a crown on the tail along with the Jubilee dates and also a large 'E II R' on the underside.

I say 'might be wearing' because, at this moment in time, it is not entirely clear whether these are the actual display colours, a spare aircraft or merely a one-off commemorative scheme to mark the forthcoming Jubilee celebrations.

It seems that there are still decisions to be made and, as we are still only in January, that is hardly surprising.

'Bondy' told me: "At this point in time we haven't got anything else to report but that could change in the coming weeks and we'll keep you posted."

In the meantime - visit the 2012 Tucano Display Team Facebook group to stay in touch with all the latest news.
