GAM Previews: RAF Northolt SAR Symposium - Marking 70 Years of Royal Air Force Life Saving
2011 is the 70th anniversary of Royal Air Force Search And Rescue (SAR)
operations, and when Phil Dawe, who runs events to generate funds for the
restoration of RAF Northolt’s Battle of Britain Sector Ops room (The Sir Keith Park
Building / Building 27, to use the two names it most commonly goes by), was
offered a Polish Navy Mil Mi-14 for the next of his ‘Night Photoshoot’ events,
Northolt’s Station Commander, Gp Cpt Tim O’Brien, offered up the Station as the
venue for a SAR Symposium to celebrate this significant landmark. Karl Drage was
there for Global Aviation Magazine.
