Aviation News: Global Aviation Resource launches Global Aviation Magazine

Hopefully many of you will be familiar with who we are and what we try to do, but for those of you discovering us for the first time, please allow us to take a few lines to fill you in on this major new project.

The core Global Aviation Magazine Team is essentially the same people that have brought you the Global Aviation Resource (GAR) website for the past two and a half years, give or take. In that time we've published more than 450 articles covering everything from airshow previews and reviews through to news, interviews and historical pieces on almost every facet of aviation imaginable.

The website was nominated for a prestigious Flight Global 'Webbie' award in its first year (ultimately coming second) and won the Guild of Air Pilots and Air Navigators (GAPAN) Award for Aviation Journalism in 2011 for the coverage we devoted to the Harrier's withdrawal from UK military service.

While we have every intention of continuing to update the Global Aviation Resource website, we've felt for a while that it might be nice to run our non-time-sensitive feature content in a nicer, glossier format, and one that people can easily download to their portable devices for offline viewing.

Today we have launched our first attempt at such a publication. As you’ll be able to see from the cover, we've tried to include something for everyone, whatever your aviation persuasion, and while it's probably safe to assume that certain themes will be largely ever-present, we will always be striving to mix things up and keep the whole thing feeling fresh.

In Issue 1, we've got both military and civilian bases covered, rotary and fixed wing pieces, and we delve back into the history books as well as bringing you right up to speed with an exclusive interview with a brand new UK classic jet owner. If you've got any thoughts about how we've done, you are of course more than welcome to air them on The HANGAR, our own aviation social network, where you can also share your pictures, blogs and communicate with other like-minded people.

We hope you enjoy it and thank you for all your ongoing support.
