GAR's Christmas Competition

Where did 2010 go exactly? Most of the people I've spoken to of late seem to be saying the same thing, that 2010 just flashed past. Blink and you miss it territory I reckon!

You don't need me to tell you that we have had a very busy year. Hopefully you've seen that for yourselves and have been keeping track of our weekly updates (we've still yet to miss a Tuesday deadline!), blogGAR's from the team, themed articles such as those for the Battle of Britain's 70th and the Harrier retirement, and the occasional exclusive thrown in for good measure.

We've got a whole host of plans afoot for 2011 so rest assured that we will continue to bring you the (yes, we are biased!) best aviation features on the web, illustrated with the best photography. It is heartening and sometimes daunting to see how many people visit GAR week in week out but we'll do our best to carry on delivering the kind of content you've become accustomed to and we've got one or two new ideas up our sleeves as well. Watch this space!

One initiative which came good this year is our partnership with PlanesTV which meant that we ran a number of exclusive film clips alongside our reports and features. Quite often yours truly ended up presenting these, which hopefully didn't put you off too much, but I certainly enjoyed working with Adrian, Iain and the rest of the team this year and they helped me a huge amount when it came to learning some of the nuances of interviewing and presenting to camera, something I had done a little bit of in the past but with no real formal training.

We treated 2010 as a bit of an experiment, a toe in the water if you like, and you should see even more collaboration between the two teams in 2011.

PTV has got more than 20 years experience of filming and producing aviation events and programmes and with these now available online in HD, on DVD and BluRay and with the inclusion of cockpit footage from minicams they really do capture the flavour of the airshows that they predominantly cover. Don't take my word for it though - check out www.planestv.com where you can find heaps of footage and, between Xmas the New Year, can watch some of the PTV's On-Demand footage for free.

Anyway, enough waffling - I know that you probably want to have a go at winning something!

This year we've got no less than 10 prize packages for you courtesy of PlanesTV and Eurofighter - manufacturers of the mighty Typhoon of course. Everyone who answers the question below correctly will be placed into GAR's hat and the first ten names drawn will win not only a PlanesTV DVD of their choice but also some Eurofighter goodies including posters, postcards and a rather snazzy keyring! Here's the question:

When GAR and PTV interviewed Royal Air Force Typhoon Display Pilot Flt Lt Tim Clement for our Cosford Airshow review, how much G did he say he pulled in the break before his outside turn?

Simply use the 'Contact Us' link at the top to send your answer along with your full name. Make sure you use 'Competition' in the subject line of the message. The competition closes on Monday 10th January and winners will be notified by email and on GAR.

Good luck and may we wish you all the very best for 2011.
