About Global Aviation Resource

Paul Fiddian - Staff Photographer & Writer Born in 1980, Paul grew up in Bromley, Kent, and has been an aviation devotee for as long as he can remember. Located under the busy south eastern skies, his garden soon became a spotting platform for the constant airliner traffic arriving at or departing Heathrow, Gatwick or Biggin Hill. From a very young age, he would dash outside and stare up into the beautiful blue beyond whenever he heard something flying overhead and, if he's honest, that still occurs now! Annual trips to the Biggin Hill International Air Fair (six miles away!) began in 1984 and these fuelled his aircraft passion all the more. Paul attended many shows with his granddad - a WW2 Horsa glider pilot who was involved in actions including D-Day and Arnhem, and remains a keen aircraft fan to this day.

Since that first show in 1984, Paul hasn't missed a single Air Fair and it's remained the most consistent event in his season each year. However, he's also attended many other airshows, taking him up, down and across the UK, and into Europe on occasion, too.
Although he's a fan of all aspects of aviation, his key focus areas are aerobatics and display teams and his heroes in this respect include airshow legends Brian Lecomber, Nigel Lamb and Richard Goode.

Since moving to North Devon in 2005, Paul has developed a close link with the organisers of RNAS Yeovilton Air Day and, since that year, he has been supplying them with aircraft profiles, images and press releases on a regular basis. He is also an airshow review contributor to Aircraft magazine and has forged strong ties with many key airshow industry figures.
Paul acquired his first SLR camera body - a Pentax K1000 - in 1994, but swapped this for a Canon body three years later. He moved over to digital photography in 2005 and currently uses the Canon EOS 20D, alongside the Canon 400mm L prime, 70-200mm L and 17-40mm lenses.
